Ivor Cutler - Shoplifters

Its November, the prime music video watching month of the year - officially -. Our first offering for this month is a song about shoplifting. Ivor Cutler's paen to shoplifters is praising a different type of lifter than Morrissey did but its great nonetheless. and he has a great hat.

Star You Star Me - Sweet Things

This track is from a few years back. I was looking for their collaboration with Erlend Oye and found this.

Panda Bear - Surfer's Hymn (Actress remix)

In fairness this is a great remix by Actress.

Martyn - Viper

The video-game Rage was released this week. It's the first game produced by ID in quite a while and it really seemed to just arrive out of nowhere with very little pre-release publicity. I've played a few hours and its a really solid FPS. The same could be said of the new Matyn album Ghost People which is just out (only part not apply - it's not an FPS). Video is like a really souped up OPN graphic used in his live shows.

Walls - Sunporch

New music from Walls! Their music appeals to me on so many levels. Their music has this slight yet discernable nostalgic feel but still sounds new and of its own. Its atmospheric and yet danceable too. Really great stuff to be honest.

The Fall - Barmy

I think one of my favourite things is coming home on Friday evening, after work, having a drink and listening to The Fall before heading out.

You should do the same - thats a Detritus TV recommendation.

Montana is a song that you should listen to.

Dolphins into the Future - Ho'okena Halawai

Musically 2011 may well be known as the year of retro. The whole hypnagogic scene and bands like Washed Out, Neon Indian have used a sonic palette that harkens back to a half remembered past. The copy over a copy VHS sound is certainly with DITF as they will now be known.

Emeralds - Now You See Me

DetritusTV are going to see one of their favourite bands this evening, Emeralds. The last time I saw them a speaker blew so the sound wasn't great. Hopefully there won't be any speaker problems.

mcclow - amtold

Exciting day for DetritusTV, as today we bring you the first music video by McClow. It's strange commenting on my own video but I'll say the song is probably too long and the videos a bit of a home made mess but its an attempt.

Have a look and see.

No Age - Fever Dreaming

One of DetritusTV's favourite bands is No Age. They have a really distinct sound and the ambient breaks in their tracks are always a welcome reprieve.

Maria Minerva - Ruff Trade

The Not Not Fun label has been one of the labels of the year. Maria Minerva typifies their dreamy retro wandering sound.

Loren Connors and Alan Licht - Sometime, Somewhere in NYC

The good thing about about trawling through new music and listening to artists you're not familiar with is that on some rare occasions you'll hear something exceptional. That happened this week listening to Loren Connor's new album Red Mars. He sounds like a blissed out John Fahey and the new record at times reminds me of Vincent Gallo's underrated solo effort.

No vids for new record yet, I'll post one if any appear. So heres what I found:

Spectrum - How you satisfy me

Some say Spectrum is named after the ZX Spectrum home computer, some say he isn't. Detritus TV isn't sure. His alter ego is Sonic Boom obviously a reference to Guile of StreetFigher 2's special move. This surely shows his interest in all things video game related.

Bit sunny today.

Walls - Burnt Sienna

Walls generally don't make too much noise but these walls make a fair old racket of My Bloody Valentine, Brian Eno and emotive techno type noises.

Bit windy today

Lana Del Ray - Video Games

Describing herself as the gangsta Nancy Sinatra, Lana Del Ray is singing about being annoyed because some guy is playing video games. He was probably playing something terrible in fairness. If he was playing ICO or Another World she couldn't really complain but then there wouldn't be an amazing song like this.
