Kings Of Convenience - Boat Behind

This is just great, it really is and the record is true quality.

Thats the post

Yes thats the post

And we will reiterate

This is just great, it really is and the record is true quality.

And on the new album probably the best song is named after their last album, can't think where that ever happened before.

Dinosaur Jr - Over it

Electric Picnic is on this weekend and DetritusTV hopes to find a festival site that isn't submerged by the weekend. It's raining now, will it rain then, Will it?, Please answer will it?

It probably will.

But who cares Dinosaur Jr are playin' and apparently they're one of the best bands to see while standing in the rain. Here at DetirusTV we would like to play more quality vids, oh the music is always quality but actually good quality vids, you'll know when you watch....

Best Coast - Sun Was High (So Was I)

I don't know anything about this band and I couldn't be bothered to Google them. So lets just make something up shall we? Best Coast took their name from a misheard conversation when lead singer Ranulph Van Zorn was eating a bowl of Cheerios and remarked to lead guitarist Ty Stretch that he was wearing the 'best coat'. The misnomer also inspired their jangly pop-psychedelia sound and blissed-out west coast riffage. This is a tune that should make to sun feel guilty for not coming out to play. Come on Mr Sun, put your hat on and parade about like a jezebel.

Japandroids - Live on KEXP

Some have said that with the demise of record companies the time of the over produced album is over. But what will that mean, possibly less orchestral intros and more bands sounding like Japandroids as the DIY ethic is no longer a choice but a necessity, which is no bad thing.

Mary Margaret O'Hara - When You Know Why You're Happy

Shamed deserter Silver Medalist returns to the front after an inordinate time AWOL, but he comes bearing a wonderful gift - the delirious, dolorous, hypnotic voice of Mary Margaret O'Hara. It's 21 years since her one and only record, the nocturnal, noirish country soul of Miss America, but the indisyncratic songbird remains unique, still singing like a through-the-looking-glass siren, with that alluring, trancendental, bewildering vocal cadence. On this majestic video clip, she looks like Juno, and her band resemble extras from Jake and the Fatman, which makes it all even better

Rone - Spanish Breakfast

The longest day of the year and DetritusTV hoped to commermorate this with the longest music video ever created but didn't in the end.

Sonar 2009 - Orbital

Maybe some greeted the reformed Orbital with a sense of grim inevitability but there's no doubt that they've earned their place in the electonica pantheon. DetritusTV remembers watching this vid many years ago on daytime tv and wondering why it didn't sound anything like Oasis.

and Dr Who, why not!

Sonar 2009 - Atom TM

In an unintended connection with the last post another artist that feels his name should be appendexed with a TM appears. Instead of Schneider we have Atom TM.

So here is the ATOM TM that we speak of in video......

Schneider TM - The Light 3000

DetritusTV has a car at the mo which is no great odds, however two passengers in this car have noted that the electronic sound that indicates an open door sounds like the beginning of a Schneider TM song. I think the song they refer to is his cover of The Smiths song There is a light that never goes out.

Maybe so - so here's the track to commemorate this great vehicle/electronica convergence.

Amerie - 1 Thing

Music commentators more intelligible than DetritusTV (did we even spell intelligible rite) often say that with such and such track you can't help dancing. DetritusTV knows only one track where this statement is F.A.C.T. and that's Amerie's - 1 Thing. Check it out and see that DetritusTV is rite yet again.

Sonar 2009 - Fever Ray

If DetritusTV were at Sonar we would defo go to see Fever Ray so long as they were palyin' durin the day. We have reservations about ever again attending the cavernous air hanger night time event - DetritusTV is gettin old you know.

Sonar 2009 - Leila

Sonar is this week end in Barcelona and DetritusTV has decided to watch youtube clips of it this year instead of attending. Turn off the lights, turn the volume on this vid up, get some budweiser beers in plastic cups, turn up the heating and you to can transport yourself there.

Heres Leila from last year.

Little Boots - New in Town

DetritusTV is back - reasons not here - have you not seen spotify?.

But we return and with Little Boots who made an appearance here last year with a non motion video. Little Boots returns with motion and chart placings and we do like her disco pop Laurie Anderson sounds.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll

DetritusTV has had the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album, Its Blitz, on repeat the last few days. Zero and Heads Will Roll offer a propulsive synthy opening to the record and that thankfully continues right through, the track Runaway is amazing.

Some have said that DetritusTV should shy away from any group that appears on Jools Holland and should defo not play a clip from his show but the YYY's have made it hard to post vids so Jools is our only option.

So imagine the most bombastic introduction that Jools would give:

"Seasick Steve folks - What about that!! What about that!! And now all the way from Yeah Land here's the Yeah Yeah Yeahs!!!"

Irma Thomas - It's Raining

Not enough soul music you declared

Not enough Tom Waits you exclaimed

And not enough dancing, there's been no dancing!!!

Well today DetritusTV shall remedy all these complaints in one fell swoop with what is not strictly a music video but could been seen as such. Its from Jim Jarmusch's excellent movie Down by Law and features Tom Waits at the table, Irma Thomas on the jukebox and dancing, of a sort.

The Black Dog - Further Vexations

Its been quite a while since DetritusTV has looked forward to an album release so much but the new The Black Dog record has finally arrived. Its inspired by the fears of an encroaching surveillance society and the resulting loss of personal liberty. This sinister theme is a continuation from the last album Radio Scarecrow and although only a year since this release the new record has a distinct and individual sound.

See attached short movie made to promote album, which is quality.
